Your privacy is important to Oregon Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (“OVLA”, “We” “Our”). This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how We collect and use personal information about you (“You”, “Your”) as a user of the OVLA website or its services, or as a volunteer for OVLA. We may update this Policy at any time and if We do We will post the updated Policy to the OVLA website and will provide specific notice on the website when We make material changes to this Policy. This policy applies regardless of the device You use to access our services.

OVLA’s mission is to provide educational programming, legal advice, and resources to empower Oregon’s creative and artistic communities to create fearlessly. This includes connecting attorneys and artists for pro bono or low-bono legal support and providing content such as workshops, legal clinics, and online written, live, or recorded media designed to educate artists on their legal rights and common legal issues (Our “Services”). OVLA’s implementation and adherence to this privacy policy (“Policy”) is not a concession or admission that We are subject to the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ORS 646A.570-646A.589, or any similar privacy legislation. OVLA’s position is that this Policy and Our adherence to it is entirely voluntary.

We may also collect eligibility information to confirm your eligibility to participate in OVLA services (e.g., financial information of applicants or references when signing up as a volunteer attorney).

We may use third-party services to collect this information as described below.  While OVLA uses reasonable efforts to use third-party services that protect and respect Your data, OVLA expressly disclaims any liability for information collection or use by the third-party services.

You may provide the following demographic information if You choose: (i) age (ii) gender (iii) race / ethnicity (iv) country of origin.

Information We Automatically Collect: We use Squarespace Analytics to collect the following categories of information: (i) information about Your browser, network, and device; (ii) web pages You visited prior to coming to this website; and (iii) Your IP address. This information may also include details about Your use of and interactions with this website, including: (i) clicks; (ii) internal links; (iii) pages visited; (iv) scrolling; (v) searches; and (vi) timestamps. OVLA’s commitment to your privacy means that We use information only for limited purposes. OVLA uses the information it collects as follows:

Providing and Improving OVLA Services: OVLA uses the information it collects to provide Our Services for You, ensure that such Services are provided in furtherance of Our mission, ensure We are in compliance with relevant law and the ethical standings of the legal profession, and to review and improve our Services.

Communications with You: OVLA uses the information it collects to keep You informed of updates regarding Your use of Our Services and important information regarding OVLA itself, such as updates or updates to our operations and Policies.

Advertising: We may also use the information You provide or We collect to send you updates about available Service offerings and upcoming events. We may also use Your information to inform you of upcoming events by Our community partners. You may opt-out of receiving these marketing emails from OVLA by following the instructions about opting out in those emails. 

How We Share Information that We Collect

OVLA shares Your information with Our volunteer attorneys to the extent reasonably necessary to provide Our Service of connecting You with volunteer attorney support. OVLA generally does not otherwise share your information with third-parties.

However, OVLA utilizes services provided by third-parties in the administration of Our Services. Currently, OVLA uses Google Forms for volunteer applications and feedback form submissions, Squarespace for its website and general contact form, Smartsheet and Google Drive for clinic applications and clinic processing, and MailerLite for the mailing list. These third-party services may be embedded or otherwise integrated into the OVLA website. Links on the OVLA website may take You to the third-party website that is referenced. When You leave the OVLA website or use integrated services, Your information may be collected by that third-party and is subject to that third-party’s privacy and other policies. We Use Reasonable Means To Secure Your Personal Information

We use reasonable means to protect Your personal information but no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that We or Our service providers will not experience a security incident that could impact the information You provide.

Smartsheet stores data with NIST-approved ciphers, proven transport layer security (TLS 1.2), and AES 256 at-rest encryption as stated in their policy above.

Google encrypts data in transit and at rest with AES256 bit encryption as stated in their policy above.

You Can Choose to Provide Your Personal Information.

We do not require that You provide personal information through Our website. However, if You do not provide personal information, We are unable to provide certain Services to You such as the legal clinic.
